Minutes from the cut.
The gap closes with periodization a template can't model. We close it on purpose.
Bespoke coaching with a 2:12 marathoner and four-time Olympic Trials qualifier. Your VDOT, your zones, your HRV, your gait: read by a human who knows what to do with them, and turned into a plan rewritten every week.

You've outgrown the generic plan. You've got the discipline. What you want is a coach who builds the work around your life, your physiology, and the exact line you're trying to cross.
The gap closes with periodization a template can't model. We close it on purpose.
Years at the same time. We find the system that's holding you back and rebuild it.
Recovery is different now. Coaching that respects that is how you keep getting faster.
Performance isn't just the workout. It's how you lift, how you fuel, how you recover, and what you tell yourself at mile 20. Every system, measured honestly and coached by a human.
Periodized and rewritten every week around how your training actually went.
Durability work built to your body, so the mileage holds.
Daily nutrition and race-day fueling, dialed to your physiology.
Sleep, HRV and zones read honestly. Fitness is built when you rest.
Nerves, pacing discipline, the confidence to commit.
Not a plan you download. A relationship that starts with a conversation and is rebuilt around you, week after week.
Johnny coaching your running, week to week. For the athlete who wants a real coach on the work that matters most.
The whole athlete, fully resourced. For the runner chasing a BQ or a PR who wants nothing left on the table.
Three-month minimum, then month-to-month. A free 20-minute call comes first. No payment until you and Johnny both say yes.
First-timers to national-class qualifiers, busy professionals to masters runners still setting PRs. The thread is the same: coached by a person who actually reads the messages.
"I'm 54 and faster than I was at 34. Coach Johnny made me believe my best running was still ahead, and then proved it on the clock."

"Being coached by someone who is really fast somehow just makes me feel faster."
"I'm a surgeon. Some weeks I get 12 hours of sleep total. The plan kept me from blowing myself up trying to hit numbers. NYC came together on three solid 50-mile weeks, and that was enough."

"Two kids under five. My husband works nights. I run at 4:30 AM and the plan never judges me for it. PR'd by 11 minutes at Mesa."

"Great structure and imagination in the workouts, and real interaction with Johnny."
"I told Coach Johnny my goal was to finish without walking. He said: let's set a real goal. Ran 1:48, fifteen minutes faster than I thought possible."

Not a marketing pose. The actual person on every call. Johnny is a former professional marathoner with a 2:12 personal best who has spent the last decade coaching runners from first-timers to national-class qualifiers.
His philosophy, "run for fun and personal bests," is the one he carried out of his collegiate career under Coach Al Carius at North Central College. Behind the approachable mindset is a rigorous foundation: Jack Daniels' VDOT principles, careful management of aerobic decoupling, and a deep respect for recovery as the time fitness is actually built.
Both are real 1-on-1 coaching with Johnny: hand-written plans, weekly adjustments, direct text access. Core ($169) focuses on your running: one monthly call, your zones and VDOT set properly, strength guidance, a race-week pacing plan. Premium ($199) is the whole athlete: two calls a month with same-day replies, full nutrition, sleep and mental coaching, gait analysis on video, ongoing HRV and zone reviews, and priority on the roster.
Coaching changes you on a training-cycle timescale, not a week-to-week one. We need a full base-build-sharpen-race window to actually work together, and to know whether we're a fit. After three months it's month-to-month, cancel any time.
Twenty minutes with Johnny. Tell him your goal, your history, your weekly mileage, what's worked and what hasn't. You'll get an honest read on whether 1-on-1 is the right call for you. Sometimes the answer is "not yet," and he'll say so. No pressure either way, and no payment until you both decide to go.
A goal, a bit of history, and a willingness to communicate. If you wear a watch (Garmin, Apple Watch, COROS, Whoop, Oura, any of them), the data helps Johnny set your zones and read your recovery. A short gait clip from your phone is enough for form work. The single most important thing is that you actually talk to him.
No. The cap exists because Johnny is one person and a real relationship with each athlete takes real time. When the roster is full, spots still open up regularly as athletes hit their goal races and step back, usually within 6–10 weeks, so it's worth reaching out.
The plan flexes to where your body actually is. That's the whole point of working with a coach instead of a template. If you need to pause for a long-term injury (6+ weeks off running), we can hold your spot for one cycle without billing. Anything shorter and we reshape the build around it.
The first three months are a shared commitment, so they're non-refundable. That's why we start with a free intro call instead of a credit card. If something genuinely isn't working in month one, talk to Johnny and we'll figure it out together. After three months it's strict month-to-month: pay for what you use, stop any time.
